St. James implores his readers to "be doers of the word, not just hearers" in the second reading this weekend. Imagine if your favorite author, athlete, or musician just sat around all day and never worked at their craft... would they still be your favorite? Could they still be called an author, athlete, or musician if they never practice their craft? If that was the case, we could all say we're authors, athletes, and musicians. We're called to be bearers of the light in the world - the light of the Father. We may be one single flame, but even one flame can inspire many folks to travel halfway around the world to be inspired. With this being the case, imagine if we all united our efforts - the world wouldn't be able to help but to notice.
