Homily for the 29th Sunday of OT (B)
Does this prayer sound familiar? - "God just give me a sign..."
In life, I think we often ask this question of God, but we're too impatient to wait for the answers. Like a good parent, the Father knows when we're ready or not ready to have a question answered. For James and John, they would be asked by Christ "are you able to drink the cup i drink?" They thought they knew what He was asking, but they would realize it was much deeper when they experience the Last Supper with Christ.
Sometimes we have to trust that we are exactly where God wants us to be on our life journey. It is in knowing this that the Lord humbles us enough to develop a servant's heart.
